This exhibition dedicated to Yves Saint-Laurent, which will be held at various sites from January 29th to May 15th, 2022, will be unique in more ways than one. First of all, it brings together under the same project six great Parisian institutions: the Louvre, Musée d'Orsay, Centre Pompidou, Musée National Picasso, Musée d’Art Moderne and the Musée Yves Saint-Laurent. The aim of this project is to highlight the links between Yves Saint-Laurent and art in general, both classical and contemporary, but each museum is approaching the designer and his work from a different perspective. This ambitious and multifaceted exhibition will clearly demonstrate the wide-ranging influences and genius of Yves Saint-Laurent.
From museum to museum
Each museum is using its own collections to reveal the various facets of Yves Saint-Laurent's creativity. At the Louvre, the focus is on light and gold. At the Musée Picasso, the influence of the rhythms, colours and light of the Spanish artist is evoked, while the Musée d'Orsay examines the place of Marcel Proust in the couturier's imagination and his playful attitude towards gender identity. While each is coherent unto itself and complements the others harmoniously, the six exhibitions add up to an entire experience that is absolutely fascinating.
