Iris van Herpen in the spotlight at the Museum of Decorative Arts

Iconic representative of the new designers of the 2000s, Iris van Herpen offers a unique conception of fashion. Abolishing the barriers between artistic disciplines, placing the body at the centre of everything, integrating new technologies, she reinvents clothing in all its connotations. The Musée des Arts Décoratifs pays tribute to her through a magnificent exhibition which aims to convey all the complexity and originality of the designer. Check it out, it’s only a five-minute walk from the Roch Hôtel & Spa.

An extraordinary designer

Born in a small village in the Netherlands, Iris van Herpen very early on developed a passion for classical dance that quickly and deeply influenced her relationship with the body. As she grew up, she turned to the field of fashion and joined the biggest design houses, including Alexander McQueen. She expresses what truly makes up her DNA: a passion for traditional and artisanal methods and, at the same time, for new technologies.

An exciting journey

The Musée des Arts Décoratifs is hosting an exhibition that gathers no fewer than one hundred pieces of haute couture created by the designer. It also brings them into dialogue with contemporary works of art, designer pieces, natural elements such as fossils, and even with objects resulting from innovative technologies. These echoes and reflections show both the technical complexity of Iris van Herpen’s creations and the diversity of her sources of inspiration. The exhibition runs until April 2024. You can book your admission online on the Musée des Arts Décoratifs website.

Take advantage of the Roch Hôtel & Spa’s special Valentine’s Day offer and discover or rediscover the creations of Iris van Herpen at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs. Our offer is only available on the hotel website, and you have until February 11th, 2024, to benefit from it!
